Happy Tails: Guera
Angie has had Guera, her two-year-old dog, for about a year and a half. Living with a physical disability, Angie has faced challenges finding the assistance she needs to get her pets to veterinary appointments in San Antonio.
After learning about Spay Neuter Network’s low-cost services through someone at her City Council district office, Angie received help scheduling an appointment for Guera.
During her visit, Guera was spayed, received her DAPP vaccine, and tested negative for heartworms. She was also provided with three months of preventative medication and treatment for a skin condition, along with medication to support her recovery at home.
For Angie, getting Guera spayed was especially important because she has another female dog at home, and the two have difficulty getting along when in heat.
At check-in, Angie shared that she hadn’t known low-cost spay/neuter clinics existed. Although Guera’s surgery and care were covered through our ZIP code grant and Acts of Kindness Program, Angie insisted on making a $10 donation as a gesture of appreciation.
“Thank you so much for doing this for me and Guera. This means so much. We cannot thank you enough for your help.”
Angie also shared how happy she was to learn that she could return to have her other dog spayed when she is ready.
