Happy Tails: Rufus finds a new home
Elizabeth found 1-year-old Rufus tied to a lamppost. She knew she couldn’t leave him, so she untied him and brought him home. She took Rufus to the Fort Worth clinic to check for a microchip, which he didn’t have. While at the clinic, Elizabeth got him vaccinated, a heartworm test, and preventative treatment. Two weeks later, she returned to the clinic to have Rufus neutered and microchipped because they had decided he was one of the family. Since she lived in one of the qualifying zip codes, she was able to get Rufus fixed for free, thanks to the Saving Hope Foundation. Receiving these services “means we can have a new addition to our family.” Elizabeth’s husband, a veteran, was interested in getting Rufus trained to be his service dog. Now that Rufus is fixed and vaccinated, he is “one step closer to being a service dog.”
