Happy Tails: Guera

Angie has had two-year-old Guera for about a year and a half. When it came time to have Guera spayed, getting her to the clinic was not easy. Angie is physically disabled and had struggled to find the support she needed to access veterinary care for her pets.

After receiving information about Spay Neuter Network’s low-cost services through someone with her City Council district, Angie was able to get help scheduling an appointment for Guera.

At her visit, Guera received spay surgery and a DAPP vaccine. Our veterinary team also performed a heartworm test, which came back negative, provided three months of heartworm prevention, and treated a skin condition with medication to help her heal comfortably.

“Thank you so much for doing this for me and Guera. This means so much. We cannot thank you enough for your help,” Angie shared.

Through a ZIP code grant and additional assistance from our Act of Kindness program, Angie was able to receive Guera’s care at no cost. Angie was surprised to learn that she did not need to make a donation, but she still insisted on giving $10 as a thank-you.

“I appreciate you for all your help,” she said.

Having Guera spayed also helped solve another challenge at home. Angie has another female dog, and the two had to be kept apart when they were in heat. Now, she is looking forward to bringing her other dog to Spay Neuter Network for care as well.

“You don’t know how happy I am to know that I can bring in my other dog for her spaying too.”

Thanks to supporters like you, we can help pet owners like Angie overcome barriers to veterinary care and make sure pets like Guera receive the services they need to live healthier lives.
