Happy Tails: Hachi, Canela & Family

Eri and Kenid’s seven dogs are truly part of the family. They brought Hachi and Canela home as puppies, and when the pair later had a litter, they fell in love with all four puppies: Chispa, Dolly, Twister, and Lucky, and decided to keep them. Chewbacca joined the family after a neighbor could no longer care for him.

For years, Eri and Kenid were able to comfortably provide for their pets through their successful food truck business. But after the food truck was stolen and never recovered, their financial situation changed drastically. Suddenly, they found themselves having to decide which veterinary services they could afford for their dogs.

Finding care was also difficult because they had struggled to find a veterinary provider where someone could explain their pets’ care in Spanish. They wanted to make informed decisions but often left appointments without fully understanding which vaccines their dogs needed or why.

At Spay Neuter Network, each of their dogs received rabies, leptospirosis, and DAPP vaccines, including free DAPP vaccines. Our team also helped schedule the female dogs for spay surgery to prevent future accidental litters.

For Eri and Kenid, being able to communicate with our team in Spanish made a meaningful difference. From receiving paperwork in Spanish to speaking with team members who could clearly explain their pets’ care, they felt supported throughout their visit.

They shared that they always want to do everything they can for their dogs, but when no one speaks their language, it can be difficult to understand what their pets need.

After everything their family has experienced since losing their food truck, receiving affordable care for their dogs meant even more.

Their experience with Spay Neuter Network made such an impact that Eri and Kenid also asked how they could begin volunteering with us and received information about getting involved.

Thanks to supporters like you, families like Eri and Kenid’s can access affordable veterinary care, understand the services their pets are receiving, and keep the animals they love healthy and together.
