North Texas – February 12, 2019 – Spay Neuter Network (SNN) today announced it received a $160,000 grant from PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, to help fuel its spay and neuter efforts in North Texas. Funding from this grant will support programs to help pet owners who otherwise could not afford sterilization and basic vaccinations for their pets.

More specifically, this funding will bolster monthly programs focusing on dogs, cats and specific breeds that have the highest risk for overpopulation and shelter crowding.

Providing more than 28,000 surgeries annually, Spay Neuter Network is the largest free and low cost spay/neuter provider in the North Texas region, and this funding will extend the organization’s reach even further.

“Thanks to this grant, we will perform more than 3,000 spay/neuter surgeries over the next year. We would like to thank PetSmart Charities for their support in making this project a great success,” said Jacob Carty SNN Communications Director.

“Accessible spay and neuter services continue to play an important role in fighting pet homelessness,” said Deborah Turcott, acting president of PetSmart Charities. “PetSmart Charities’ continued support of Spay Neuter Network fosters availability of this great community resource. Since 2005, PetSmart Charities has awarded over $1.6 million in grants to SNN to provide subsidized spay and neuter surgeries and basic wellness care to North Texas pet families.”

PetSmart Charities aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness. Since 1994, the organization has granted more than $100 million to support spay and neuter efforts across the United States.
