Happy Tails: The Birthday Reunion Made Possible by a Microchip
When Pedro, a curious and sweet one-year-old cat, went missing, his owner Johnquaela was devastated. Despite searching and hoping, six months went by with no sign of him.
Then, a small miracle happened.
A kind couple found Pedro wandering in their parking garage. He walked right up to them, friendly and trusting, as if he knew he was finally safe. They brought him inside, cared for him, and even scheduled a neuter appointment—ready to welcome him into their lives as their own.
But during his vet visit, something unexpected changed everything.
We scanned Pedro, as we do with every new intake, and found a microchip. Just like that, we had his original owner’s contact information. When we called Johnquaela with the news, she couldn’t believe it—and it just so happened to be her birthday.
“This was the best birthday present I could ask for,” she said, holding back tears.
“You will never know how much it means to me to have my boy back. I was devastated when he got out and didn’t think I would see him again. Thank you all so much.”
Johnquaela drove an hour the very next day to reunite with Pedro. The couple who had found him were sad to say goodbye, but overjoyed to see him return to his original home. Their compassion, combined with the power of a microchip, made this beautiful reunion possible.
This Chip Your Pet Month, let Pedro’s story be a reminder: microchipping works.
A simple chip brought Pedro back home. It could do the same for your pet.
