Do I need experience to volunteer?
No experience is required for most roles. We’ll train you on everything you need to know before your first shift. The only thing you need to bring is a willingness to show up and get to work.
Where can I volunteer?
We have four clinic locations in Crandall, Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio. When you apply, you’ll indicate which location works best for you. Community support volunteers may also have opportunities at off-site events.
What are the age requirements?
Volunteers must be 16 or older. Volunteers under the age of 18 are welcome with a parent or guardian present at all activities.
How often do I need to commit?
We work with your schedule. Some volunteers come weekly, others come once a month; whatever is sustainable for you is sustainable for us. Consistency helps our teams plan, so even a predictable once-a-month shift makes a real difference.
What will I actually be doing as a volunteer?
Most volunteers help with behind-the-scene tasks that keep our clinics running smoothly. This includes cleaning and sanitizing tools and spaces, preparing supplies, supporting check-in, and helping staff stay organized during busy clinic days.
What does a typical shift look like?
That depends on the role, but most clinic volunteers spend their time supporting operations, preparing supplies, assisting with check-in, cleaning and sanitizing, and helping keep the clinic organized during busy periods. Clinic shifts are typically 2 hours, though many volunteers stay longer. You’re welcome to stick around as long as you’d like. Most clinics operate Tuesday – Friday, with select locations also open on Mondays and Saturdays. Once you’re in our system, our volunteer coordinator will share scheduling details for your preferred clinic. Community support shifts vary based on events but are typically on Saturdays. Once you’re in our system, our volunteer coordinator will match you to shifts that fit your availability.
How do I sign up?
Click the Apply Now button at the top of the page to complete a short application through our volunteer portal. Once we receive it, our team will be in touch within a week to get you scheduled for your first shift.
What happens after I apply?
Once you submit your application, our team will review it and reach out within 3 days. You’ll receive next steps for scheduling your first shift and any required onboarding or training.
Will I be handling or playing with pets?
Because we are a high-volume spay/neuter clinic, most volunteer roles focus on supporting operations rather than direct interaction with animals. Animal handling is limited and typically done by trained staff to ensure safety for both pets and people.
Can I volunteer if I’m completing court or school hours?
Yes, we welcome volunteers fulfilling court-appointed, school, or service organization requirements. Apply through the same link and note your situation in your application.
I applied a while ago and never heard back. What should I do?
We’d love to connect. Reach out to us at volunteercoordinator@spayneuternet.org, and we’ll make sure your application is reviewed and get you moving forward.
