Loving kittens find a furever home

Loving kittens find a furever home

By SNN Admin | 09.08.2022

During a joint clinic with Inspired Vision, an organization dedicated to feeding as many people as they can in North Texas, we met Ms. Villa. She arrived with four orphaned kittens whom she had rescued and bottle-fed over the past few weeks. She knew they all needed to be fixed and vaccinated, but she only had enough money to cover the expenses for one kitten. She thought she would have to decide on which one to keep and get that one fixed and vaccinated, and then surrender the other three kittens to the city shelter. Instead, we covered the spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations for all four kittens, thanks to donors and supporters of our Pet Support and Resource Center. That way, Miss Villa could use the money she saved to feed her family instead. Now, regardless of whether these kittens remained with her or found a new home with another family, they would have what they needed to get a healthy start in life.

These are the happily-ever-after stories we hope to create for pets every day.

Our Pet Support & Resource Center is an award-winning partnership with the City of Dallas and Dallas Animal Services to provide alternatives to surrendering a pet to the city shelter. Through this program, Spay Neuter Network provides services and resources to keep pets in their homes; helps pet owners rehome their pets on their own if needed; or routes pets to our local rescue partners for quicker adoptions.

Two bearded dragons find a new home

Two bearded dragons find a new home

Chamelyne had to leave her apartment ASAP and had to surrender her two bearded dragons. Within days the Pet Support and Resource Center was able to rehome the bearded dragons. Spay Neuter Network employee Brandy took one bearded dragon home and her friend took the other one. Both beardies (renamed Reptar and Jonathan) are happy with families who love them.

These are the happily-ever-after stories we hope to create for pets every day.

Fort Worth resident helps community cats in her neighborhood

Fort Worth resident helps community cats in her neighborhood

Guadalupe Venegas says she “unintentionally” became the neighborhood cat lady in 2021. “People dump cats near my house all the time,” she said. “The cats just sort of wander onto my property, and I care about them, so I feed them. Since then, the cats seem to know where to come for help.”

Venegas knows where to go for help too. She doesn’t want the cats to have any more litters, so she traps them and takes them to SNN for their free spay/neuter surgeries, rabies vaccinations, and microchips, thanks to the generosity of the Saving Hope Foundation. In less than a year, she has trapped 12 felines that have wandered up to her door.

“I am grateful to have this kind of support in my neighborhood,” she says.

Eleanor gets the time she needs to show off her amazing self

Eleanor gets the time she needs to show off her amazing self

Eleanor’s owners called 311 to schedule an appointment to surrender their recently adopted dog back to the city shelter. They said Eleanor was being destructive in the home, and they didn’t know what to do about it. Our Pet Support & Resource Center staff assured them we could find help for Eleanor so they could keep their newly adopted dog. They were eager to try anything.

So, we referred them to Dallas Pets Alive and their PASS (Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender) program. Through them, they received free training resources and a virtual consultation with a trainer to help guide Eleanor on how to be a good canine. As a result, Eleanor’s owners are no longer thinking of giving her up. They say she loves training and seems to have loads of potential.

These are the happily-ever-after stories we hope to create for pets every day.
